T Wit, first having date the twentieth of March in the year 1828 & payable twelve months after date with interest from date for Six hundred & five dollars & fifty cents, Second bearing same date & payable two years after for the same Sum of Six hundred & two dollars & fifty cents bearing Interest from date, also third bearing same date & payable twelve months after For Six dollars & eighty Cents. The said Thomas Thompson being also into debt To Thomas Carter for Building a Saw Mill & having employed the said Carter To Rebuild the Grist Mills or to make repairs therein as may be keeping Which work of Rebuilding & Repairing the said Grist Mills being commenced & far advanced though yet in an unfinished state is that the precise amount Of this debt cannot now be appertained but including the Building the Saw Mill & repairing the Grist Mills ___ Computed at Four hundred dollars more Or less to bear interest from and after the time that the whole of the work is com- Pleted & finished – And is desired to secure the payment of all the said Monies – Now this Indenture witnepeth that the said Thomas Thompson In consideration of the promises for the sum of ___ dollars to him in hand and At or before the sealing & delivery of these ______ the receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged hath given granted Bargained Sold and by these present doth Give, grant, bargain & sell unto the said John Newlin A certain tract & piece Of land; Situate lying and being in the aforesaid County of Orange on the HawRiver Adjoining the land of Luke Teer, Thomas Thompson lying on one side of Haw River Including the M ills. It being the tract in which my Father Resided Containing One hundred & fifty acres more or less and one Other tract of land Situate lying and being in the same County on Haw River Where the said Thomas Thompson now resides, bounded by the Land of Thomas Robeson, James _____ ____, ______ Hatch & by Cane Creek & Haw River Containing Two hundred & seventy seven acres more or less, together with all The improvements & appurtenances to the beforesaid Two tract of land __________ Thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the said John Newlin _______ Him or apsigns _________ upon the trust following, that _____ That if Said Thomas Thompson shall well and truly pay all the notes aforementioned With the interest on or before the Twentieth day of March in the year One Thousand Eight Hundred & thirty then the said John Newlin shall Reconvey to the said Thomas Thompson the beforesaid two tracts of land. But if the said Thomas Thompson shall make default in the payments & fail to pay all the monies aforesaid together with the interest on or before the said twentieth day of March in the year 1820, then by _________ of the said William Thompson It shall & may be ___________ for the said John Newlin to sell the Two beforesaid Tracts of land & Mills at final Sale whether for ready money or upon _________ having just ____________ Said sale for the space of Forty days & out of the ________ of said sale to Pay & discharge all the debts aforesaid together with the interest & the cost Of Registering the deed & the expense of making said sale _________________ If any he shall pay to the said Thomas Thompson full ________. __________ Is hereby given to the said John Newlin to make to the purchaser A good & sufficient Title.
