RUTH YOUNG JAMES
BURLINGTON – Ruth Young James, 83, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002 in her 
home. She was the daughter of the late John Samuel and Bettie Green Young. 
She was the husband of the late James William “Bill” James Jr. She was 
preceded Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Betty James Slowinski and 
husband James of Goldsboro; sisters, Lucy Willis of Burlington, Sudie 
Hudson of Connelly Springs, Carolyn Snyder of Spruce Pine; brother John 
Young of Hickory; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren and two 
special caregivers. Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Hocutt 
Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. Jimmy Nicleston will officiate. Burial 
will be in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will be at the Rich & 
Thompson Funeral Hime in Burlington from 6-8 p.m., Thursday. Other times 
they will be at the residence. The body will be taken to the church 30 
minutes prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the American 
Heart Association, 300 Silver Cedar Ct., P.O. Box 2636, Chapel Hill, NC 
27515-2636.
