North Carolina Militia Additional Comments: John Boone lies between his two wives: first wife, Anna Starnes and second wife, Elizabeth Barringer. The cemetery is on NC 81 in Freiden Village near Gibsonville, NC. There are many old graves here and they are in need of preservation. A large number of tombstones are unreadable. The tombstones for John Boone and his wives have been recently replaced. The older, original tombstones lie at the foot of the graves with the new stones at the head. This photo of John Boone's grave depicts the new headstone. This cemetery has many graves belonging to members of the Summers, Tickle, Kernodle, and Whitsett families. Based on family research, it appears that John Boone's father was Jonathan Boone, the brother of famed woodsman, Daniel Boone.
