Maarbjerg In the Name of God Amen the twenteth fourth day of October one hundred seven hundred thirty three I Thomas Hoskins of the precinct of Chowan in the County of Albemarle being sick in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament this is to say principally and first of all I give and so commend my Soul into the Hand of God that gave it me and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buryed in decent and Christian manner at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Almighty power of God and touching such worldly Estate wherewith itt hath pleased the Almighty God to bless me with in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Sarah Charlton one gold ring. I give to Will’m Luton Husband to my Daughter Ann deceased ten Shillings. Item I give to my son William Hoskins whome I likewise constitute make and ordain one of my Executors of this my last will and testament all my Estate Excepting these few artikels here mentioned. Item I give to my daughter Mathew the Slave called Fib and one feather bed and furniture, one Hundred pounds province bills, one pot, one pan, one table, two dishes, four basons & six plates, four Cows & Calves, three Ewes & Lambs. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter mary one negro to Her likeing which is to be raised out of the Estate and one Hundred pounds province bills, one feather bed and fourniture, one pot, one pan, one table, two dishes, four basons & six plates, four cows & calves, three Ewes and lambs which is to be raised and Earned out of the Estate. I do hereby disallow, revoke and disannul all and every other former wills Legacies & Bequests and Executors by me in any ways before named willed and bequeathed Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last will and Testament in witness whereof I here unto Set my Hand and Seal this day and year above written. And Lastly I do make Constitute ordain and appoint my son William Hoskins and John Benburg Executors of this my Last will and testament In Witness whereof I Have hereunto set my hand & seal. April Court 1734 The Within Will of Thomas Hoskins was proved in Open Court by the oath of Jno. Mitchener an Evidence Subscribing thereto who deposed he saw James Smith sign the sd.
