Dear Mr. Wike:

            I have not been able to get out and get the money I was talking to 
you about, as you noticed from the size of the Times this week, we have been 
working night and day too. I don't want to borry it from the Bank if I can 
help it. I will make you this proposition if you will let me have it for 
twelve months, I'll pay you the regular interest, and add two years to your 
subscription to The Times, which will be equal to $8.00.
