ALEXANDER COUNTY, NC - MILITARY - Pvt. Horace Milstead --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Pvt. Horace Milstead, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Milstead of Taylorsville Route 2, who was inducted into the armed forces in 1942, at Camp Atterbury, Ind and is now stationed in Kentucky. Source: Unidentified newspaper photo of soldier in uniform with write-up titled Pvt. Horace Milstead; undated clipping but surmise the date to be 1942 or 1943. Submitter's note: I am unable to scan the photo at this time. I believe this Pvt. Horace Milstead to have died during WWII on 16 July 1944. Besides the submitted clipping, I also have a black and white photograph showing a military gravesite in a military cemetery for H.E. Milstead. It too is undated and nothing on the photo to identify the location of this cemetery. But I believe H.E. Milstead and Pvt. Horace Milstead to be the same person. I am working on more identification to confirm my belief. Pvt Horace Milstead would be my 1st cousin twice removed. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
