ALEXANDER COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Vergie Elizabeth Jones, 12 May 2004

TAYLORSVILLE - Vergie Elizabeth Jones, 94, formerly of Mitchell 
County, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at Frye Regional. She was the 
daughter of the late George and Maggie Greene Childers, and wife of 
the late Sylvester Jones.

Survivors include three daughters, Helen Yelton of Westminster, MD, 
Georgia Yelton of Taney Town, MD, and Mary Childers of Morganton; 
one son, Ted Jones of Taylorsville; 10 grandchildren; 21 great 
grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at First Apostolic 
Church. Rev. Alvin Baker officiated. Burial was at 6 p.m. Saturday 
at Malone Gouge Cemetery. The family received friends from 1 p.m. 
until the service hour at the church.
