ALEXANDER COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Claude E. Meadows, 11 Oct 1983 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- The Taylorsville Times Oct. 13, 1983 Claude E. Meadows, 60, of Oakdale Circle, Statesville, died Tuesday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salisbury. He was a former resident of Alexander County for many years. He was born in Wilkes County on Sept. 7, 1923, and was the son of the late Robert Lonnie Meadows and Victoria Davis Meadows. A retired carpenter, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and received the Purple Heart and four Bronze Service Stars in the European campaign. He was a member of the Troutman American Legion. He was preceded in death by one sister, Luna M. McLain. Surviving are his wife, Bernice Jenkins Meadows; one son Jackie L. Meadows of Charlotte; one daughter; Mrs. Donna Meadows Turner of Charlotte; four brothers, Charles Meadows of Stony Point and Lex Meadows and Ted Meadows both of Taylorsville, and Walter Meadows of Hiddenite; two sisters, Mrs. Anne Bowles of Taylorsville and Mrs. Sue Reavis of Yadkinville; one grandson, Scott Meadows of Charlotte. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Taylorsville, with Rev. Cecil Lovelace and Rev. Charles Lee Hutchens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour. The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. today at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, in Statesville and will assemble at the residence.
