The Statesville Record and Landmark
Julius Stamey Payne ,78, of Hiddenite, NC, died Thursday at Alexander County 
Hospital in Taylorsville. He had been declining health of seven years. A 
native of Alexander County,NC, he was born July 8, 1897, and wwas the son of 
the late Newton Parks Payne and Emma C Patterson. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. 
Mamie Leota Stine Payne;daughters, Mrs Leota Hoke of Durham, NC, Mrs. Alva 
Lackey, and Mrs. Rita Ledford, both of Hiddenite;and five grandsons. The 
funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hiddenite United Methodist Church,  
Rev, Wade Wright will officiate and burial will be in the Hiddenite cemetery.  

Additional Comments:
Julius S. was the grandson of John Carter Payne and Ada Combs Payne, the great 
grandson of Thomas P.Payne, Sr. and Lucinda Combs of Hiddenite, NC (Lucinda 
and Ada being sisters
