Statesville Record and Landmark Newspaper
Mr. Charlie Parks Payne of 483 Island Ford Rd, Statesville, NC died Saturday, 
November 19, 2005 at the NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury, NC.  He was born 
on February 14, 1922 in Alexander County and was the son Clarence 
Clayton "Jack" Payne and Lou Arnette Grant Payne. His stepmother was Bertha 
Sigmon Payne. Mr. Payne served in the U.S. Navy SeaBees in the south pacific 
during WWII. He is survived by his wife Sarah Elizabeth Nesbit Payne and one 
daughter Charlene Ruth Payne Issak, two granddaughters; JoAnna R Henderson of 
Barium Springs, NC and Amanda B Gomez of Cornelius; four great-grandchildren; 
Beth,Madison, and Gabriel Gomez and Landon Harold Parks Henderson; one 
brother, William Payne  of Island Ford Rd, two sisters; Joan Payne Meadows and 
Ruth Payne Hefner. A brotherm Willis Henry Payne preceded him in death. 
Funeral services and burial will be at New Salem Presbyterian Church in 
Alexander County, NC
