Charlie Ray Payne, Jr. 82, of 407 Ray Road, Stony Point, passed away  Friday, 
July 16, 2010 at Gordon Hospice House,  after and extended illness.
He was born on Dec 8, 1927, in Iredell County to the late Charlie Ray Payne, 
Sr and Nellie Marie Dagenhart Payne. Mr. Pay served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 
to 1951. He was a construction worker and was a member of the American Legion 
and V.F.W. Post 1000. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, where he 
taught Sunday school.  
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Payne 
Wolfe; a grandson, Christopher Brian Payne, and a niece, Julie Johnson. He is 
survived by his wife,  Hilda Dagenhart Payne, of the home; two sons, Curtis 
Payne and wife Sandy of Stony Point and Louis Payne of the home; two 
daughters, Karen Payne Moose and husband, Ray of Catawba; and Tina Eaton and 
husband, Wayne of North Wilkesboro; three brothers, Phil Payne and wife Judy, 
Foy Payne and wife jean, and David Payne and wife, Shirley all of Stony Point; 
four sisters, Geraldine Payne Goble and husband Earl of  Stony Point,NC , Fern 
Payne Kiker and husband Carl of Monroe; Judy Payne Matlock and husband Midge; 
Toni Payne Smith and husband Larry of Taylorsville. thirteen grandchildren and 
seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at Temple Baptist Church 
with burial following at New Salem Presbyterian Church. Rev. Jason Payne will 
officiate.
