Judson Hubert Shawver, Jr., 78, of Lake Arrowhead Drive, Taylorsville, died 
Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Valley Nursing Center.

He was born in Fayette County, West Virginia, May 24, 1931, son of the late 
Judson Hubert Shawver, Sr. and Agnes Holiday Shawver. He was a self-employed 
car detailer and a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 
Taylorsville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, and a 
brother.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Garlene Nance Younce Shawver of the 
home; a step-son, Chris Younce and wife Donna of Taylorsville; and a step-
grandson, Brian Younce of Taylorsville; a sister, Patricia Walborn, of West 
Virginia; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 2 pm, at 
the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Taylorsville. Marvin Benford and 
Doug Hall will officiate. Burial will follow at a later date. The family will 
receive friends at the Kingdom Hall following the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Palliative 
CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 
28658, or to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 455 Millersville Road, 
Taylorsville, NC 28681 or to the Parkinson Foundation, 1501 9th Ave NW, Miami, 
Florida, 33136-1494.
