ALEXANDER COUNTY, NC - OBITUARY - James Willet, Jr, 9 Jan 1940 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Obituary and Accident Report for James Willet, Jr Died 09 Jan 1940, Stony Point, Alexander Co NC MAN IS KILLED IN ROAD CRASH James Willet, Jr., 21, Of Hiddenite Dies Instantly as Auto Hits Truck. Taylorsville, Jan. 9- James Harold Willet, Jr., 21, Hiddenite, was instantly killed at 4 o'clock this afternoon at Stony Point while driving home from his work in Statesville. His car failed to make a curve and ran into a truck owned and driven by Bill Milstead of Taylorsville. The truck was crowded off the highway and turned over. The car was demolished. Ranse Wike of this county, riding with Milstead, suffered a bad injury although not serious. Milstead was unhurt. Willet suffered an attack of flu and is believed to have fainted as he met the truck. He had complained of not feeling well when he left his work. He was employed by the Piedmont bakery of Statesville and was in the car alone when the accident occurred. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Willet and a brother Earl, all of Hiddenite. Funeral services will be held in the Methodist church in Hiddenite Thursday morning at 11 o'clock.
