ALEXANDER COUNTY, NC - WILLS - Gillum C. Meadows, 13 Jul 1911 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Gillum C. Meadows July 13, 1911 North Carolina Alexander County ) I G.C. Meadows of the County and State aforesaid being of sound mind and disposing memory, but knowing the uncertainty of life and the certainy of death do make publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following to wit: First: I will that my Executor hereinafter named give my body a decent burial suitable to my station in life, and pay all my just debts out of the first money's that may come into his hands from my Estate including pay to Christie Meadows for services rendered me during my sickness. Second: I will to my wife Jane Meadows all the money that she has recceived from my effects since our marriage. In all about one thousand dollars. (This amount was retained from the products raised on my farm. Also the amount I have expended on our joint property where we now live in informing the same in all $300.00 or more. Also one milk cow, 5 bushels of wheat, 10 bu. of corn, 50 lbs of meat and one half of all the household & kitchen furniture that has been made or bought since our marriage, and this is to be her full share of my estate. Third: It is my will that all my notes and money and debts of any discription be collected by my Executor, and all of my property both real and personal be sold, (either publically or privately as to him may seen best.) and equally divided between all my children and their representives except I will that before said division is made that he pay to Nelia Harrington wife of Clay Harrington the sum of $50.00. This being her part of the money used by me of her mothers estate, also $50.00 to Rhoda Wike wife of Andrew Wike, and $25.00 to Nonie Harrington and Lonie Harrington children of my daughter Mary-, mal--i-y $50.00. and before Loney Meadows my son shall share in this division as herein after directed he shall account to said estate for the sum of $50.00 borrowed money which he never paid back. After these special bequests, the remainder after paying all costs of Administration dues shall be divided into ten equal shares as follows to wit: one share to Minda Williams, one share to Nonie & Lonie Harrington, children of Mary Harrington, one share to Rhoda Wike, one share to Betty Deal, one share to Nelia Harrington, one share to Loney Meadows, (less the $50.00 herein before named) one share to Christie Meadows, one share to Texie Blackwelder, one share to Vance Marlow, and one share to Thomas Meadows. Share and share alike except as stated in this will. Fourth: In addition to his share as stated in Item 3 of this will I give & bequeath to Christie Meadows my shotgun to his own use and benefit forever. Five: It is my will that if any one named in this will be dis-satisfied, or raise any disturbance he or she shall receive no part of my estate and the portion willed to such any one, shall be divided among those who assent to this will. Six: I hereby constitute and appoint my friend J.L. Gwaltney my lawful Executor to execute this my last Will and Testament and every part and clause thereof according to the true intent and meaning thereof hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made.
