CAPTAIN ELIJAH PHIPPS’ COMPANY OF SENIOR RESERVES 
OF ALLEGHANY AND ASHE COUNTIES, NORTH CAROLINA
 
 In the year 1864 there were several companies of Senior Reserves, created here 
in southeastern North Carolina. One of those companies raised which was located 
primarily in Alleghany and Ashe Counties were under the leadership of Captain 
Elijah Phipps. 
 
Upon enlistment the men the enrolling officer with the following  information: 
When born or age [ some gives the actual date]; birth place; Height [feet and 
inches]; Complexion; color of hair and eyes; and occupation.   The following is 
a list of those men which served in Captain Elijah Phipps’ Company of Senior 
Reserves:
