I have copied the preface as it is written, with the exception of the size of letters: THE HOLY BIBLE, CONTAINING THE OLD AND THE NEW TESTAMENTS, TOGETHER WITH THE APOCRYPHA: TRANSLATED OUT OF THE ORIGINAL TONGUES, AND WITH THE FORMER TRANSLATIONS DILIGENTLY COMPARED AND REVISED TO WHICH IS APPENDED, A CNCORDANCE, THE PSALMS OF DAVID IN (This area is torn.) AN INDEX, TABLES, AND OTHER USEFUL MATTERS. The area is torn.) AN INDEX, TABLES, AND OTHER USEFUL MATTERS. The Text conformable to the Standard of the American Bible Society. PHILADELPHIA: JOHN E. POTTER, 15 SANSOM STREET. INDIANAPOLIS: SPICER & ROLL. 1857. (As you can see, this Bible was written by the family at the time of David & Eliza’s in 1834. I also have a copy of the preface to the New Testament. I guess this Bible is in the hands of someone, just who I do not know. I do not know who filled in the data. It shows different writing in some places; some beautiful script, others written in almost a scribble. I will endeavor to include what is different or the same as I go. Marriages. (All of this script is beautifully written, and by the same hand.) David Dabbs v. Eliza Webb was Married January the 12th A.D. 1834 *Jonathan J. Dabbs v. (This is also neatly written, and also looks to be by the same hand. When I know the middle name, I will include it in parentheses.) David Dabbs Died February 8th. 1880 Aged 67 years 11 Months & 13 Days Eliza Dabbs Died June 22 on? 1880 Aged 64 years 2 Months 11 Days Notes by Bobbie Williamson-Dabbs Ledbetter: - I was told David & Eliza Dabbs has some other babies, but I do not know if this is true or not. I do not even know where the family is buried. I was told at the Gum Springs Baptist Church, but I have been there, and even though I have seen many familiar family names in the cemetery. I would love to find just where these people were buried. - David & Eliza lost quite a few sons in the War Between the States. George Brown Dabbs died in the insane asylum, as a result of the war. I do not know where the others died. My greatgrandfather, WILLIAM HENRY DABBS, was injured in the Battle of Malvern Hill. WILLIAM HENRY DABBS married SUSAN ELLEN LILES on 29 February 1869 at the Dabbs Home. (This is a statement I found in the partially filled Bible of WILLIAM HENRY & SUSAN ELLEN DABBS.) SUSAN ELLEN LILES was the daughter of ELI MARSHALL & MARY (HINSON) LILES, who was the son of SANFORD & JANES ANN [JINCEY] (DIGGS) LILES, son of ELI & BETTY (CROCKER) LILES, son of JAMES (the Regulator) & MARY (RICHARDSON) LILES, son of EPHRAIM & JANE (WILLIS) LYLES, son of HENRY & JANE (---?---) LYLES. Most of the Liles genealogical records that I have copied are from records found at the Hampton B. Allen Library, Wadesboro, N.C. (Anson County). - I have records of ELIZA WEBB’S ancestors; her father JOHN WEBB who married ELIZABETH (HUNTLEY) (1st husband – FAULKNER), daughter of ROBERT HUNTLEY, son of THOMAS HUNTLEY. JOHN WEBB’S fathe was WILLIAM WEBB, son of THEODORICK WEBB. I have been to the graveyard, called the Old Unity Presbyterian Cemetery, Fort Mill, S.C. (York County) where THEODORICK WEBB is buried. This cemetery is a disgrace. It was at one time called the “Revolutionary Soldiers Cemetery”, due to the there being a number of them buried there. It is beyond description. I would be ashamed to know that I had let something deteriorate to the state it is in, for some people who had fought and help win our independence. It seems that people don’t care anymore about such things.
