                       Power of Attorney/Guardianship
                                      
     Here is another one of those records found in the Anson County,NC
     land records that has nothing to do with buying or selling land.
     
     Nelson B. Hutchinson to Thomas B. Bailey
     
     Anson County,NC Deed Book 10 Page 215 - Know all men by these
     presents that whereas I Nelson B. Hutchinson was
     appointed at last January Term of Anson County Court guardian to
     Roxy Birmingham,a lunatic and now being on the eve of removing from
     the county,in consideration of which I
     hereby appoint my friend Major Thomas B. Bailey,who is one of
     securities,my agent and attorney to act for me and in my name
     relative to all matters and things as to said guardianship which
     may become necessary until next January
     Court at which time my desire is that he make known to the
     Court the fact of my removal from said county and have a
     committee appointed to make settlement as to the amount which I
     have received and paid out as guardian aforesaid and
     I hereby ratify whatever my said attorney may lawfully transact and
     do in the premises in as full and ample a manner as I could do in
     my own proper person present. In witness whereof I have hereunto
     set my hand and seal at
     Wadesboro November 21st 1840.
     
     Witness: John A. McRae N.B. Nelson(seal)
     
     Anson County January 1841 then this Power of Attorney was duly
     proven in open court by John A. McRae and ordered to be
     registered.
