STATE OF NO. CAROLINA              
ANSON COUNTY

 KNOW ALL men by these presents that I have bargained & sold unto WILLIAM 
MARSH a negro woman named CATE about seventeen years old to which negro I bind 
myself my heirs Exers. & assigns to give to said WILLIAM MARSH my right and 
title to the said negro at the decease of ELIZABETH, my wife, then she to be 
delivered with all her increase for the consideration of the sum of four 
hundred dollars to me paid by the said Marsh which negro I do warrant and 
defend from any claim from myself or heirs or assigns. In Witness whereof I 
have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 1st. day of February 1816.

October Court 1817. Then the within Bill of sale was duly prov'd in open Court 
by the oath of SOLOM0N MARSH and ordered to be registered.
