LILES State of North Carolina. To all persons to whom these presents shall come George D. Boggan, high sheriff of the county of Anson in the state of North Carolina sendeth greetings: Whereas by a writ of Vendition exponas issued out of the County Court of Pleas & quarter session for the county of Anson hearing ? the 2nd Monday of January AD 1845 last past & to the said sheriff directed he was commanded that of the goods & chattels & in default thereof of the lands and tenements of Henry Permenter if to be found in this county he should cause to be made the sum of fifty dollars & fifty seven dollars & seventy nine cents with interest on the sum of one hundred & seven dollars & 79 cents from the 10th day of July AD 1844 which Needham Permenter lately in said court recorded? for his debt & damages against the said Henry Permenter & which were then & there adjudged to the said Needham Permenter for his debt & damages and also the further sum of three dollars fifty cents which were then & there adjudged the said Needham Permenter for his costs & charges by him expended in his said suit and whereof the said Henry Permenter was liable as assessed of record and that he should have the said money before the said court on the 2nd Monday of April AD 1845 then next ensuing then & there to render to the sd. Needham Permenter the said monies for his debts damages & costs and that he should have then & there these writs. And whereas the said sheriff did also on that day return to the said court that by virtue of the said writs to him directed he had served and taken in execution a certain piece or parcel of land situate lying & being in the county of Anson on Pee Dee River adjoining the lands of Needham Permenter, Amos Liles & others. beginning at a stake the 2nd corner of lot No. 6 (in the division of the lands of James Permenter, decd.) by 2 pines & runs So 18 Et five chains & 80 links to Thomas Ingrams line then with his line No 67 3/4 Et 67 chs. to Pee Dee River then up said river 8 chains to a wild Locust the corner of No. 6 then with said line So 65 West 65 chains along an open unmarked line to the beginning containing forty three acres be the some more or less. And whereas by certain writs of Vendition exponas issued out of said court & bearing ? the 2nd Monday of January A.D. 1845 and to the said sheriff also directed he was commanded that the piece or parcel of land with the appurtenances so by him served & taken in execution as aforesaid he should expose to sale and that he should have the monies arising from such sale before the said court on the 2nd Monday of April A.D. 1845 then & there to render to the said Needham Permenter for his debt damages & costs aforesaid. And whereas the said sheriff having given due & legal notice of the true place of sale of the said land did on Tuesday the 15th day of April A.D. 1845 expose the same to sale by public vendue or out cry and sold the same to Nelson P. Liles for the sum of eighty seven dollars he being the highest bidder & that the highest & best price bidden for the same. Now know ye that the said sheriff for & in consideration of the sum of eighty seven dollars aforesd. to him in hand paid by the sd. Nelson P. Liles at and before the ensealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath given granted bargained & sold unto the said Nelson P. Liles his heirs & assigns all the said above described lands & tenements together with all & singular? buildings improvements rights members & appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining & the reversions & remainders rents ? or profits thereof and also the estate rights ? interest claims or demand of the said Henry Permenter of into or out of the same forty three acres of land. To have & to hold the said land tenements hereditaments premises hereby granted or intended to be granted with the appurtenances to the said Nelson P. Liles his heirs & assigns to him & them only proper use & behoof forever for such estate and under such rents conditions & ? as the said Henry Permenter had & held the same at & immediately before the taking thereof in execution but for no other or greater estate than the said Henry Permenter then & there held the same according to the form & effect of the laws & usage of the state of North Carolina in such case made & provided in witness whereof the said sheriff hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal this 10th (16th?) day of April A.D. 1845.
