         VS.

A. J. THOMAS; WILLIAM CLAPP and wife, MATILDA, WILLIAM GATEWOOD and wife, 
MARY; JAMES H. THOMAS, JOHN THOMAS, and DAWSEY THOMAS

Petition for Sale of Land

In this case, it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the defendants
A. J. THOMAS; WILLIAM CLAPP and wife, MATILDA, WILLIAM GATEWOOD and wife, 
MARY; JAMES H. THOMAS, JOHN THOMAS, and DAWSEY THOMAS reside beyond the limits 
of the State: It is therefore ordered by the Court that publication be made in 
the N. C. "Argus" notifying said defendants to be and appear at our next Court 
of Pleas and Quarter Sessions to be held in the County of Anson at the Court 
House at Wadesborough on the second Monday of January next. Then and there to 
plead, answer or demur to this petition filed: Otherwise judgment will be 
taken pro confesso and heard ex parte as to them. Witness, NORFLEET D. BOGGAN, 
Clerk of the said Court at office, the second Monday of October, A. D., 1848.
