NORTH CAROLINA ANSON COUNTY This Indenture made this 11th day of Feby. in the year of our Lord 1819. Between Mary Barber of the one part & John Spears of the other part both of the County & State aforesd. Witnessth that the Sd. Mary Barber for in consideration of the Sum of Eighty dollars to him in hand pd. by the Sd. John Spears at & before the Sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt & pay't is hereby acknowledged She the Sd. Mary Barber hath given granted bargained & Sold conveyed & confirmed unto the Sd. John Spears his heirs & assigns for & during my natural Life one part of my dower lands where I now live containing 80 acres (of land) in the County aforesd. & on Pinch gut creek containing 2 lots first lot marked No. 3 Beginning at a Stake the 2nd corner of Lots No. 2 in the Dower line & runs No. 35 Wt. 8 chs. to a Stake then No. 55 Et. 7 chs & 50 links to a Stake in the back line of a 50 acre Survey then with the line of Sd. Survey as on the plat of division doth appear to the corner of No. 2 thence with the line of Sd. lot to the beginning containing 40 acres which was allotted Elyda Barber 2nd lot marked #4 which was allotted for the heirs of Wm Barber dec'd Beginning at a Stake 2nd corner of lot #3 in the dower line & runs No. 35 Et. 62 chs. in a line of a 50 acre Survey thence with the line of Sd. Survey to the beginning making in the whole 80 acres one-half of the dower lands laid off for me of the lands which my husband John Barber was possessed of at his death. To Have & to hold unto him the Sd. John Spears his heirs & assign during my natural life together with all buildings improvements profits & advantages on then or in any wise appertaining to the Same with the Sd. John Spears his heirs Exrs. Admrs. during my natural life & the Sd. Mary Barber for Herself her heirs Exrs. Admrs. do covenant promise & agree to warrant & defend these presents as far as above described & no further. In witness whereof the Sd. Mary hath hereunto set her hand & seal the day & year first above written.
