All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Nancy Poquette npoq@hotmail.com May 27, 2006, 8:55 pm From North Carolina State Archives, Microfilm C.005.40004, Record of Deeds, Anson County, Vol. H, page 266-267: Written: May 3, 1768 “This indenture made the 3rd day of May, in the year 1768, between John Crawford and Anne Crawford of North Carolina and of Anson County, planter, of the one part, and PHILEMON THOMAS of the County and province aforesaid, planter, of the other part.” “All of that part of a tract of land situate in the County aforesaid on the lower side of Hitchcock Creek on both sides of Falling Creek, beginning at forked pine at the head of Crawford’s Spring Branch, it being Thomas Williams’ corner, running south 80 west about 275 poles to Hitchcock’s Creek, thence down the various courses of the said creek line to a hickory which is called John Brown’s line, thence north 80 east 30 poles by Brown and Gibson’s corner to a pine on Falling Creek, thence cross said creek north 10 west 106 poles to two small white oaks by James Bounds corner blackjack, thence north 70 east 86 poles to hickory, thence north 10 west 54 poles to a hickory in Thomas H.
