If there is one thing that I have learned in genealogical research, is that you have to be creative with spelling one's name. David Douthett for & in consideration of the sum of fifteen pounds Va. currency recd. of the sd. George Dobbs before the sealing & delivery of these presents the recpt. whereof he doth hereby acknowledge & thereof doth freely fully & absolutely exonerate acquit & aforever discharge the sd. George Dobbs his heirs Exers. admrs. & assigns by these presents hath given granted bargained sold aliened conveyed & confirmed & by these presents doth give grant bargain sell alien convey & confirm unto the sd. George Dobbs a certain parcel or tract of land containing one hundred & fifty acres lying & being in the County aforesaid on the So. Wt. side of Pee Dee River beginning at a poplar in a branch of old Mill Creek crossing Babers branch to a black jack then No. 17 W. 160 po, to a hickorythen S 77 W 140 & runs 17 E. 160 poles to a white oak then No. 77 E. 140 poles/to the 1st station together with all & singular the buildings improvements ways woods waters watercourses rights liberties hereditaments & appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging half of all gold & silver mines excepted & the reversion & reversions remainder & remainders rents issues & profits thereof & right title interest property claim & demand whatsoever of him the sd. David Douthett of in or to the hereby granted premises in as full & ample manner as the same was granted to the sd. David Douthett & his assigns to him the sd. George Dobbs By his Majestys letter Patent dated the 27th day of May in the XXXIII year of his majestys reign A. D. 1760 TO HAVE & TO HOLD the sd. bargained & described 150 acres of land hereditements & appurtenances whatsoever therein above mentioned to be granted with the appurtenances & every part thereof unto the sd. George Dobbs & his heirs the only use benefit of him the sd. George Dobbs his heirs & assigns forever & that free & clear from all incumbrances whatsoever the quitrents hereafter accruing the sd. David Douthett for himself his heirs & assigns doth covenant & promise & grant to & with the sd. George Dobbs his heirs & assigns by these presents that the sd. David Douthett & his heirs to the hereby granted premises & every parcel thereof unto the sd. George Dobbs his heirs & assigns forever against him the sd. David Douthett & his heirs against all manner of person & persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or to claim shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presents & claiming or that shall or may at any time hereafter claim any estate right title to the bargained premises or any part thereof upon the reasonable request & at the cost & charges of the sd. George Dobbs shall & will sign seal & deliver any such further & better assurance of the hereby granted premises as him or them or any of their council learned in the law shall be reasonably devised advised or required IN WITNESS WHEREOF the sd.
