THIS INDENTURE made and done this 2nd day of March in the year of our Lord 
1818, Between JOHN ELLIOTT of the one part and WILLIAM SHEPPHERD (sic) of the 
State of North Carolina and County of Anson of the other part; Witnesseth that 
for and in consideration  of the sum of two hundred dollars to him in hand 
paid by; the said JOHN ELLIOTT before the sealing and delivery of these 
presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained sold and 
confirmed unto the said JOHN ELLIOTT his heirs and assigns forever a tract or 
parcel of land lying on both sides of Vickers (sic) [WICKERS] branch in County 
aforesaid beginning at a post oak, the fourth in FRANCES PARKERS line and runs 
with said line So. 55 Wt. 30 chains and 75 links to a line thence North 63 Wt. 
13 chains to a white oak thence No. 20 Et.  19 chains to a black oak with two 
hickory pointers thence No. 45 Wt. 23 chains to a black oak in THOMPSON'S line 
then with said line No. 50 Chains to a black oak between three pines thence 
No. 75 Et. 23 chains to a black oak then So. 50 chains to a stake with two 
post oaks pointers then So. 48 Et. 26 chains to the beginning containing two 
hundred acres as will appear in the plat delivered herewith the right of which 
land was conveyed to JOHN SHEPHERD by will from WILLIAM SHEPHERD Sr. and from 
JOHN SHEPPHERD (sic) to me the said WILLIAM SHEPHERD JR. by a power of 
attorney and I the said WILLIAM SHEPHERD JR. by virtue of said power of 
Attorney for myself my heirs and assigns do hereby warrant and defend the 
right of said land from the lawful claim of any person or persons whatsoever 
to the said JOHN ELLIOTT his heirs and assigns thereunto I have set my hand 
and seal the day and year above written. Signed sealed and delivered in 
presence of

State of North Carolina, Anson County, October Term 1821. then this Deed was 
duly proved in open Court by the oath of John Sheppherd and ordered to be 
registered.
