Written: 1828

  THIS INDENTURE made this 13th August in the year 1828. By and Between JOHN 
ELLIOTT and ELIZABETH ELLIOTT of the one part and MICHAEL BAKER of the other 
part both of the state of North Carolina and County of Anson. Witnesseth that 
the sd ELLIOTTS for and in consideration of the sum of twenty dollars to us in 
hand paid the receipt is hereby acknowledged do bargain sell and confirm unto 
the sd. BAKER all our right title and claim to a certain tract or parcel of 
land lying in the state and county aforesd. on Big Brown Creek containing two 
hundred fifty acres formerly the property of EBENEZER MARSH whose death 
entitled his widow ELIZABETH ELLIOTT to a life estate to eighty three and one 
third acres and we the sd. ELLIOTTS do on our part warrant and defend  the 
right & peaceable possession of the sd. lands during the life of the sd. 
ELIZABETH ELLIOTT and no longer unto the sd MICHAEL BAKER and his heirs 
forever. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals the day 
and date above written.

Then this deed was duly proven in open court by Wm. Ross and order to be 
registered.
