THIS INDENTURE made the tenth day of December in the Year of our Lord one 
Thousand Seven Hundred & fifty four between DANIEL RODGERS and JANE his wife 
of the County of Anson in the Province of North Carolina of the one part and 
ARCHIBALD MCDOWEL of the County of Anson and province afsd. of the other part 
WITNESSETH that the said  DANIEL RODGERS for and in Consideration of the Sum 
of forty two pounds Proc. to me in hand  paid by the Sd. ARCHIBALD MCDOWEL the 
Receipt whereof he Doth hereby acknowledge hath Bargained & Sold & by these 
presents Doth bargain & Sell unto the Sd. ARCHIBALD MCDOWEL all that Messuage 
Tenement Plantation tract or parcel of land Situate lying and being in the 
County of Anson and Province of North Carolina Containing three hundred acres 
on fishing Creek running through the midst thereof Beginning So. 80 chains to 
a black oak thence No. 64 Degrees Et. 40 chains to a hickory then No. 29 
Degrees Wt. 80 Chains to a Pine thence No. 64 Degrees Et. 40 Chains 
__________________________and the Reversion and Reversions Remainder and 
Remainders with the Rents Issue & Profits of the Premises and of every part 
and parcel thereof to have and to hold the Sd. Messuage Tenement Plantation 
tract or parcel of Land & all and Singular other the Premises herein mentioned 
& intended to be hereby bargained and Sold with their and every of their 
appurtenances unto the Sd. ARCHIBALD MCDOWEL his Heirs Executors 
Administrators & Assigns from the Day before the Date hereof for and during 
the term of one Whole year from thence next Ensuing and fully to be Completed 
and ended Yeilding (sic) & paying therefore the yearly Rent of one peper 
(sic)  Corn at the Feast of St. Michael the Archangel  only if the same be 
then Demanded to the intent that by Virtue of these presents and of the 
Statute for Transferring Uses into Possession the Sd. ARCHIBALD MCDOWEL may be 
in the Actual Possession of the Premises and be Enabled to accept a grant of 
the Reversion and Inheritance thereof  to him and his Heirs and Assigns in 
WITNESS WHEREOF the sd. DANIEL RODGERS and JANE his wife have here unto set 
their hands & Affixed their Seals the Day and Year above Written.
