Written: 1808

THIS INDENTURE made the 25th day of January in the year of our Lord 1808 
Between ISAAC SHEPHERD of the one part & RICHARD WALDEN of the other part both 
of the County of Anson & State of North Carolina WITNESSETH that for and in 
consideration of the sum of seventy five Dollars to him in hand paid by the 
sd. RICHARD WALDEN before the sealing and Delivery of these presents the 
Recpt. whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained sold and conveyed unto 
the sd. RICHARD WALDEN his heirs & assigns forever a tract or parcel of land 
lying and being on both sides of the Carolina Branch Beginning at a spanish 
oak on the South side Branch & runs So. 36 Wt. 13 chains crossing sd. Branch 
to a post oak among 4 sweet gums then So. 57 Et. 19 chains to a post oak then 
So. 25 chains to a pine then Wt. 44 chains to a stake then No. 60 chains & 50 
links to & with SHEPHERDS line to a hickory then Et. 31 chains to & with 
SHEBYS line to a pine then to the Beginning containing two hundred acres which 
land together with the appurtenances thereunto belonging do for myself and my 
heirs warrant and defend the above mentioned lands and no further unto the sd. 
RICHARD WALDEN him and his heirs forever Witness my hand and seal this day and 
date above written.
