WITNESSETH that the said JOHN BAILEY, ISAAC SHEPHERD, JAS. STANFIELD for and in consideration of the sum of (left blank) Hundred pounds current money of the State aforesaid Signing of these presents the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged they the said JOHN BAILEY, ISAAC SHEPHERD, JAS. STANFIELD for themselves and their heirs Do hereby bargain sell alien enfeoff & confirm unto them the said LOT STRICKLAND his heirs Executors & assigns forever a certain piece or parcel of land in the sd. County of Anson situate lying and being as follows to wit on the So. Wt. side of Great Pee Dee on Island Creek beginning at the mouth of the sd Island Creek bank then No. 65 Wt. one hundred & forty two poles to a stake among 3 sweet gum pointers in the upper & first line of the Orginial tract then with that line So. 75 West to a red oak by a spring then So. 15 East being the division line Between JACOB PAUL and WILLM. COX Sen. one hundred & sixty poles to the third line of the original tract then with that third line No. 75 East to the End thereof then So. 30 East ninety poles thence No. 30 East Eighty poles thence No. 18 East Eighty poles which three last mentioned lines are also lines of the original tract thence along the Next line of the said original tract No. 20 East to a red oak on the North side the Island Creek which is the corner of the Dividing line Made by JOHN HORNBACK to WILLIAM HOGGAT nearly opposite to the mouth of the Creek & from thence along the Last mentioned division line to the Beginning stake at the mouth of the said Creek Containing three hundred acres of land be the same more or less being part of a tract of land of five hundred acres granted unto JOHN NEWBERY on the 7th of October 1747 and by the said JOHN NEWBERY conveyed unto JOHN HORNBACK and the above mentioned three hundred acres thereof was conveyed by JOHN HORNBECK unto CHAMBERS & by the sd. CHAMBERS unto WILL. COX Sen. who bequeathed the same unto his three daughters, ELIZABETH, MARGET & MARY since intermarried with the said JOHN BAILEY, ISAAC SHEPHERD & JAMES STANDFIELD, which sd. piece or parcel of land with all ways woods water and every other appurtenances thereto belonging or appertaining the said JOHN BAILEY, ISAAC SHEPHERD and JAMES STANFIELD for themselves & their respective heirs Executors & administrators hath hereby sold set over convey released and confirmed in open market to the said LOT STRICKLAND, his heirs executors administrators & assigns and they the said JOHN BAILEY, ISAAC SHEPHERD, JAMES STANFIELD for themselves and their heirs Executors and administrators do hereby covenant and promise to & with the said LOT STRICKLAND his heirs Executors, or assigns that they the said JOHN BAILEY, ISAAC SHEPHERD, JAMES STANFIELD their heirs, executors and administrators shall and will warrant and forever Defend the said piece or parcel of land with all and every of its members and appurtenances free from the Lawful claim of any person or persons whatsoever unto the said LOT STRICKLAND his heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever. In Witness whereof the said JOHN BAILEY, ISAAC SHEPHERD, JAMES STANFIELD have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above written.
