The meeting, besides effecting a more permanent organization, will take steps towards visiting Richmond, Va. on the 30th of June to participate in the annual reunion of United Confederate Veterans. Daily Charolotte Observer 31 May 1896 The Anson Veterans - They Have a Fine Re-Union at Wadesboro - The Ladies Took Good Care of Them Wadesboro, May 30 - Quite a large crowd of veterans turned out today. It is estimated that the number would amount to about 200. Judge Bennett, Rev. Chas. Fetter, L.D. Robinson, H.C. Wall and Maj. Sully all made excellent speeches during the day. An abundant supply of something good to eat was liberally handed out to the old veterans from two long tables. After all were filled more was left than had been consumed. Besides giving the veterans plenty here, our noble women gave them packages to take home with them. Occasionally you would see an old veteran with a whole ham, nicely wrapped up, in his arms - a token from some lady. This was an enjoyable day to the veterans of Anson County.
