Declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the Act of Congrefs pafsed June 7th 1832 State of Georgia On this tenth day of October DeKalb County in the year 1832 personally appeared in open court berfore the Superior Court of the said State & County of DeKalb now sitting. John Dabbs a resident of said County and State, aged Seventy years. Who being first duly Sworn according to law on his oath mames the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the Act of Congrefs passed June the 7th 1832 That he entered the service on the United States under the following named officers and Served as herein Stated. As well as he recollects about three months after Genl Gates defeat he entered the Service as a Volunteer under Capt. Bogan & Col Thomas Wade officers of the Millitias, the date not recollected, for three months and after the expiration of his time he revolunteered for another three months tower under the same officers & under the command of Genl Rutherford, he performed part of the Service in North Carolina which was his place of residence and part in South Carolina he was in a skirmish at what was called the brick house near Wilmington he recollects of no other battle he was in during the Revolutionary war. He states he has no documentary evidence of his service never having received any discharge, he further states he can from all his service which is six months by Thomas Slay a resident of this state and County. He hereby relinquishes every Claim whatever to a pension or annuity except the present and declares that his name is not on the pensions roll of the agency of any State. his John D Dabbs mark Sworn to and subscribed the day and year aforesaid Wm. Colquitt J.Cl. We Isaiah Parker a Clergyman residing in the Said State and County of DeKalb and James T. Baker residing in the same do hereby Certify that we are well acquainted with John Dabbs who has Subscribed and Sworn to the above declaration that we believe him to be Seventy years of age that he is reputed & believed in the neighbourhood where he resides to have been a Soldier in the revolution and that we concur in that opinion.
