Edward Walker's Company under the command of Col. Harrison's Regiment of the North Carolina line. He served three stints in the Militia during which he had several skirmishes with the "troublesome" Tories" in the Counties of Chatham, Montgomery, Randolph, Richmond and Anson. HIGH was enrolled on the Pension roles on March 4, 1832. He was then 79 years old. He first enlisted in 1778 from Dinwiddie, Va. where he was born in 1753. He married there RACHEL and moved shortly after his first stint to Montgomery, North Carolina. The HIGH family moved to Anson about 1812. GARDNER HIGH died on 5 Jan. 1837. After the death of her husband, RACHEL HIGH applied for and was granted the pension. Her oldest child then was 60 years old and she said she had grandchildren and great grandchildren. The names of the children are not given in the application. RACHEL HIGH died on 25 Dec. 1844.
