James Emmet's 3rd North Carolina Regiment under the command of Col. Sumner. He was marched to Charleston, S.C. and was there when the British attacked Fort Moultrie. He then was sent to Savannah, Ga. to St. Catherine's Island. He was present at the siege of Charleston, where he suffered, in two places, a fractured skull from a bomb fragment. He was also hit by a musket ball in his left hip. He was imprisoned on 12 May 1780 after the fall of Charleston. In 1783, he married Nancy ___ in Anson County. He applied for and was granted pension on 14 Sept. 1832, at which time his birth was given as 14 Feb. 1758. Nash died in Anson on 20 Oct. 1841 and his widow, Nancy, applied for the pension. She was 82 years old. Only one child is mentioned by name in the pension: Jonathan Nash, who it was said, had moved to Mississippi.
