He volunteered in 1776 from Anson as a private in Capt. West Harris' Company under command of Col. Drury Ledbetter and was engaged in ranging the area in pursuit of Tories. In 1777, he reenlisted as orderly sergeant under Capt. James Alston, Col. John Whitaker's North Carolina Regiment. He volunteered again in Warren County, N.C. and assisted in capturing and putting to death Tories. In 1778 he reenlisted again from Warren County and served as orderly sergeant in Captain Armstrong's Company, under the command of Colonel Joseph Hawkins. Once again he reenlisted in Montgomery, N.C. and served three more months as sergeant in Capt. Buckner Kimbrell's North Carolina Company. He was in the Battle of Gates defeat. He applied for pension on Oct. 23, 1833, giving his age as seventy-four. THOMAS C. WILLIAMS and NANCY WILLIAMS jointly testified in Wilson, Tenn. However, no relationship was stated. THOMAS C. WILLIAMS (born April 12, 1754 in Warren County, N.C.) was also a Revolutionary soldier.
