In 1778, he volunteered as a Private in Dobbs (now Lenoir) County in Capt. Kennedy's Co. under Col. Caswell in the 2nd North Carolina Regiment. He participated in the Battle of Briar Creek, and served one year in the Army. He applied for and was granted pension in 1834 at the age of 76. On Nov. 7, 1780 he married Celia B. ____ (born 15 Jan. 1762) and the couple had ten children (listed below). The pension application also mentions a grandson, Bedford Williams. Job Williams died on 7 Oct. 1842 in Anson. There is a page from the family Bible, attached, but some of the listing are too faint to read.
