C. "Argus," Oct. 26, 1850 October 24, 1850 $100 REWARD FOR RUNAWAYS, BEN and ELIAS We will give $100 reward for the apprehension and confinement of BEN and ELIAS in any Jail so that we can get them again, or Fifty Dollars for either. They left this place on Monday, the 21st instant in company. BEN is about 30 years old, complexion dark, six feet three inches high, of rather slender form, stammers considerably, front teeth missing, is quite plausible with open countenance. In company with some free Negroes, near Charleston, S. C., he passed himself off as a free man, whither he will probably go, and attempt the same thing, or endeavor to make his way to a Free State. ELIAS is (nearly?) a white man, about 21 years old, six feet high, has rather a down look, particularly when spoken to, speech is slow and broad, has a hazle eye. ELIAS was brought up by a MR. MORRISON of Richmond County, N. C., and sold by him to JESSE SMITHERMAN, who sold him to T. J. JORDAN, to whom he now belongs. Wadesboro' T. A. VESTAL Oct. 24, 1850 T. S.
