Fayetteville Observer-sw-05/06/1861 1861
ANSON COUNTY.---Meetings have been held at Wadesborough and Ansonville.  The 
Anson Guard, which has gone to Raleigh, numbers 91 officers and men.  The 
officers are, R. T. Hall, Captain; C. E. Smith, W. J. Bogan,W. A. Liles, 
Lieuts.; J. Ballard, Ensign; M. T. Ballard, O. S.  A Special Court 
appropriated $2500 towards equipping the company.
