Wadesboro Messenger-Intelligencer:
On last Tuesday morning, Joe, the 10 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Crowder, of 
this place, accidentally shot himself with a small rifle with which he was playing. 
The bullet, which was a 22 calibre, long, entered his abdomen just below and to the
right of the navel and, it is thought, pierced the entrails.  The wound is 
pronounced a very dangerous one, though not necessarily fatal.
