Nov. 16, 1893 JOHNNIE LOWE, aged 18, and MAGGIE HUTCHESON, aged 25, both of Anson County, concluded to get married. The youthful lover procured a horse and buggy and Saturday night of last week they, without the knowledge of their parents, drove across the line into South Carolina, where the ceremony was performed. Returning they reached home about 3 o'clock Sunday morning, and found MR. HUTCHESON, the girl's father and another gentleman up and ready to receive them. As they drove up Mr. HUTCHESON, who is said had a big stick, stopped the horse while the other gentleman pulled the newly made wife from the buggy. The girl was carried into the house and JOHNNIE was told to skip, which he did. The Wadesboro Messenger, from which we get the above, says it is reported that the young wife now says she will not live with her husband, while he is thinking of going to law for his rights.
