No Counsel appeared in behalf of the State. MR. GILES of Salisbury and MR LITTLE of Anson appeared for the accused. After a patient investigation of the fact of the case, as set forth in the deposition of one witness, who was absent, together with the testimony of several, who were in attendance under subpoena, and the argument of Counsel, WADDILL was admitted to bail in the sum of five thousand dollars, his security to be bound in like sum; but MARTIN was remanded to prison to await his trial at the next Superior Court for Anson County. The homicide was committed near an election ground on the evening of the 13th of May, where MARTIN shot MAY with a pistol in the presence of a number of persons. It is not proper that we should attempt recital of the evidence. We understand this shocking affair had produced GREAT excitement in Anson. -- Greensboro Patriot File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/anson/newspapers/murdertr133nnw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/ncfiles/ File size: 1.9 Kb
