Old News From Anson County 1813
August 13, 1813, STAR (Raleigh, N.C.)
-COMMITTED to the jail of Anson county, on the 21st inst., a Negro man who 
called himself STEPHEN, but says he is known by the name of QUASH, (or 
sometimes called so) and that he belongs to Mrs. GILLIARD, of Santee, South 
Carolina.  He is a small Negro, 5 feet 3 inches high, quite black, about 25 
years old.  The owner is requested to come forward, prove property, pay 
charges and take him away.
