A native of Anson Co., he was the son of the late James Matthew and Annie Stranes Carter. Graveside services were held June 30 in Anson Memorial Park Cemetery, and were conducted by the Rev. Lynda Briggs and the Rev. Steve Midkiff. Leavitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He spent 35 years with Wade Manufacturing Co. In Wadesboro, and retired in 1974 as supervisor. He was a star baseball pitcher for several years with the Wade Flannels, a semi-pro baseball team and was known as "Skinny"Carter. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Roberson Carter of Wadesboro; one daughter, Mrs. Carol Ann Gibson; one brother, Albert L. Carter of Wadesbore; One sister, Mrs. Mary Jane Martin, of Wadesbore; and one granddaughter. Memorials may be made to Wade United Methodist Ch. 11 Ch.
