The Messenger Intelligencer says that last Tuesday morning Joe, the 10 year 
old son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Crowder of Wadesboro, accidentally shot himself 
with a small rifle, with which he was playing. The bullet, which was a 22 
calibre long, entered his abdomen just below and to the right of the navel 
and, it is thought, pierced the entrails. The wound is pronounced a very 
dangerous one though not necessarily fatal.
