Gulledge, 92, of Chesterfield, died Saturday, April 6, 2002. A funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Monday, April 8 from Hopewell Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Chesterfield Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 147, Chesterfield, S.C. 29709. Born in Anson County, N.C., Mr. Gulledge was a son of the late Jim and Elizabeth Green Gulledge. He was a retired auto body mechanic and textile employee, and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, the American Legion, and a long-time member of the Ruby Hunting Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and a lifelong lover of farming and hunting. Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Ruth Rivers Gulledge of the home; three sons, Charles Ray (Juanita) Gulledge of Chesterfield, Dean (Mary) Gulledge of Cheraw, and Kenny Gulledge of Chesterfield; a sister, Elizabeth G. Davidson of Taylors; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Alden "Skeet" Gulledge. Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
