Mrs. Johnson was in her 83rd year and was a native of Anson County, N.C. The Johnson family moved to this community from Scotland County, N.C., in 1905, and a few years later removed to Franklin. Their golden wedding anniversary celebrated here in January, 1921, was an interesting event, Mr. Johnson dying February 21, 1927. Mrs. Johnson was a noble Christian woman of many fine qualities, and an ideal home- maker. She had been a member of the Baptist church since childhood, and united with the Franklin Baptist Church when the family came to Virginia. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Geo. W. Livermon and Miss Sara Johnson of Norfolk and Miss Carrie Johnson of Franklin; by two sons, T.P. Johnson of Philadelphia and James A. Johnson of this town; one brother, Thomas Flowers of Mooresville, N.C., and a sister, Miss Florence Flowers of Franklin. Funeral services were conducted from the residence Wednesday afternoon at 4 o’clock by Mrs. Johnson’s pastor, Rev. R.D. Stephenson and interment was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The body bearers were: J.F. Bryant, Jr., W.O. Bristow, W.H. Lankford, Joe Bynum Gay, S.W. Rawls and J.O. Haslett, James Andrew Vaughan of New York and L.L. Vaughan of Raleigh. The honorary pallbearers were: A.L. Gardner, Dr. J.C. Rawls, Dr. Burton J. Ray, Dr. W.H. Arthur, Jas. L. Camp, Jr., Ryland Camp, G.M. Whitley, J.A. Jackson, Claude J. Edwards, J.R. Howell, R.E.L. Watkins, J.T. Edwards, R.H. Harrell, J. Edward Moyler, G.R. Eubank, and R.T. Tompkins of Boykins.
