Thurs. April 5, 1860, North Carolina Argus
   DIED, very suddenly, in Anson County, on the 29th ult., JOSEPH JOWERS SR., 
aged about 85 years. He was a man of almost an iron consitution, never 
probably in his long life being compelled to call in the services of a 
physician, and he retained his rare bodily vigor in a remarkable degree to the 
day of his death. Of sternest integrity and independence of spirit, his many 
peculiaralities served more to endear him to his friends than to detract from 
the high esteem in which he was universally held.
