Jan. 19, 1860 North Carolina Argus DIED, on the 16th of December, 1859, MRS. ELIZABETH MASK, wife of JAMES G. MASK of Anson, in the 88th year of her age. She was born in Sussex County, Va., on the 1st of Oct. 1771, and joined the Methodist Church when very young, and she lived and died strictly according to the tenets of the church of her choice, though often deprived of the privileges on account of circumstances beyond her control, for the lasty 10or 12 years she was confined mostly to the house, and for the last nine weeks closely to her bed, during which time time her sufferings were great but borne with great Christian fortitude and patience. With her husband, she has for many years past had long and agreeable discourse on the subject of religion and works, generably ending it by saying, "the greatest grief she had in life was that she could not love and serve the Lord enough". On the morning of the 16th, she spoke out the first line of her favorite hymn: "Have pity, Lord, O Lord forgive." Her husband caught up the Hymn Book and gave it out and all present joined in the singing it. While doing this, it became evident that she was rapidly passing away. After the hymn was sung, all joined her husband in prayer, from which he rose to see her draw her last breath, and receive her last farewell.
