C. Aug. 8, 1884 The Monroe Inquirer tells this story: Mrs. Francis Stegall, widow of Nick Stegall, aged about 70 years, died in Goose Creek township a week or two ago. We have been reliably informed that before dying she made a startling confession. She confessed to having murdered her husband by pouring molten lead in his ear. Mr. Stegall died very suddenly about 30 years ago, while drunk, but no foul play was ever suspected and her confession is a startling piece of news to the old people of the Community. She never married again and so far as we have heard no cause was assigned to the deed.
