This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Bobbie Williamson-Dabbs Ledbetter blsl@ij.net *************************************************************** Elizabeth Wright Will Vol. B - (1829 - 1847) ELIZABETH WRIGHT'S WILL I ELIZABETH WRIGHT of the County of Anson in the state of North Carolina being far advanced in life & believing that my life is near drawing to a close do make ordain & publish, this as my last talk & testament in manner following (to wit) Sec. 1 I give and bequeath unto my daughter MRS MARTHA McRAE wife of DANIEL L. McRAE one dollar. Sec. 2 I give and bequeath unto my daughter MRS. ELIZABETH FLOURNOY wife of JAMES FLOURNOY sen. one dollar. Sec. 3rd I give and bequeath in trust to my son ALEXANDER B. WRIGHT for the use and benefit of my son JAMES LANIER during his life time one sorrel mare & one cow (both of which are however in the possession of the said JAMES on loan, & at the death of the said JAMES to go to his son ALEXANDER, her (sic) heirs and assigns forever, so as not to be liable to the debts, contracts, or incumbrancy of the said JAMES LANIER at any time after my death. Sec. 4 I give and bequeath my negro girl HARTY & her increase unto the following named four of my children as Tenants in common (to wit) my son ALEXANDER B. WRIGHT and to the sole and separat use & benefit of my daughters MRS. ALCY FLOURNOY, MRS. MARY STURDIVANT & MRS. REBECCA POWELL so as not to be liable to the debts, contracts, or incumbrancy of their respective husbands (to wit) NELSON FLOURNOY, JOHN STURDIVANT, Jr. and JACOB P. POWELL - and furthermore, my will and desire is that my Executors herein after named shall prove as soon after my death as practicable to hire out the said negro girl HARTY either publicly or by private contract for the term of one year & divide the amount of said hire equally between my four children in this case named and under the same limitations & restriction as herein - above expressed and directed. And at the expiration of the same time of one year of the said four children as tenants in common of the said negro girl, and any increase she may have by that time can mutually agree upon her valuation together with any increase as aforesaid there and that case it is my will that such one of the four as may mutually agree upon shall take unto possession the said HARTH and her increase according to the limitations of the clause of any Will expressed and pay over to the other three their respective shares of such valuation - And in case they cannot agree among themselves as herein directed, then & in that case My Will is that My Executors here after named shall proceed to sell the said negro girl HARTY & her increase on a credit if not less than six months & divide the amount of the sale equally as in this clause of my Will directed between my son ALEXANDER & for the sole & seperate use of my three daughters in the clause named. Sec. 5 - I give and bequeath to the sole & separate use of my daughters REBECCA POWELL four head of cattle which are now in her possession so as not to be liable to the debts, contracts or incumbrances of her husband JACOB P. POWELL. All the residue of my estate, after the payment of the small legacies above named and the payments of my debts, I give and bequeath unto my son ALEXANDER B. WRIGHT his heirs & assigns forever. Lastly - I nominate and appoint my son ALEXANDER B. WRIGHT and my daughter MRS. REBECCA POWELL as Executor and Executrix to this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former Will and codicils by me heretofore made, this the 12 day of February in the Year 1830. signed & sealed by the Testatrix as her last Will her and testament in presence of ELIZABETH X WRIGHT (Seal) JNO.
