In the name of God Amen~~~ I James Hogan of the county of Anson and state No Carlina. Being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for the same and caling to mind the uncertainty of human life, do make this my last will and testament. And first of all I commend my soul unto the hand of my mindful creater, hoping for remission of my sins, my body I leave to be buried at he descretion of my executor hearafter named and as for my worldly goods it hath pleased God to bless me with I leave to be disposed of in the following manner. __________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________ and my grandaughter Susannah Hogan, one bed _______________, one young filly called Snip, one linnon wheel, to her and her heirs forever. (Item) I lend unto my loving wife Silence Hogan, all my land that I possess, all my stock of cattle, except one cow and calf I give to David Hogan, I also lend him all my stock of horses that is not above mentioned. Also three negroes that is to say, Sally, Sam, and Ben, and all my stock of hoggs, and all my crop of corn and all my plantation tools and household furniture, I lend them to her during her natural life, but it should be her choice she may give __________________ any of__________________________________ part of my estate. (Item) I give unto my son Elijah Hogan at the death of my wife one half of all my land that I now possess to him and his heirs forever. (Item) I give unto my son David Hogan at the death of my wife one half of all the land I possess, also three negroes that I lend to my wife that is, Sally, Sam and Ben, and there increase from the date of this will. I then give them to him and his heirs forever. (Item) The remaining part of my estate that is not before mentioned both real and personal I leave to be sold after my death by my executors giving them full power and authority to sell at their discretion and the money to be equally divided among all my children except David Hogan, that is to say Wm Hogan, James Hogan, Griffin Hogan,_______________ _____________________________________________________________________ giving part of my estate that I lent to my wife and is not above given, I leave to be sold at her death by my executors as above and the money to be equally divided among all my surviving children. I give it to them and their heirs forever.
