I John Permenter of the county of Anson and State of North Carolina do make this my last Will and Testament. Item first: I lend unto my loving Wife Elizabeth all my stock of every kind also the tract of land whereon I now live with its improvements with all my house hold and kitchen furniture also all my crop on hand during her widdowhood. After her death or marriage I give the said land above mentioned to my son Braton J. Permenter & his heirs for ever. I will that all the balance of my lands be equally divided between my four sons (viz) Ruffin Permenter, John T. Permenter, Needham K. Permenter & James R. Permenter and their heirs for ever. I also will to each of my sons namely John J. Permenter, Needham K. Permenter, Braton J. Permenter, Jas. R. Permenter one feather bed and furniture each also lend unto my loving Wife a negroe woman named Aggy during her widdowhood then to be sold and the moneys arising from the sale I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Permenter. I also give her one bead and furniture. I also will that all the money due me be collected and my just debts be paid out of the same and the ballance given unto my loving Wife. I will that Cary & blacksmith tools be sold on a credit of twelve months out of which money I give to the lawful heirs of the body of my Daughter Maria two hundred & fifty dollars. I also give unto the lawful heirs of the body of my Daughter Biddy two hundred and fifty dollars. I also give to my Daughter Elizabeth one hundred dollars arising from the sale of Cary and if there should be any overplus from the above sale of Cary to be equally divided between my two sons Braton and Jas. R. Permenter all the residue of my property not above mentioned I give to my son Braton J. Permenter. Lastly, I appoint Littlebury Diggs, Ruffin Permenter, Jos. Clark, Junr., John F. Auld and Hiram Clark, Executors to this my last will and testament in witness whereof I here unto set my hand and seal this 19th day of July in the year of our Lord 1821.
